Tribute to Douglas Adams

Josh, aka “adamstributer“, loves anything done by Douglas Adams so he got the cover of the Penultimate HItchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy tattoo on his back. James at Hula Moon tattooed it for Josh.

Matching Han and Leia Tattoos

I’ve got a great pair of tattoos to share today. Caryn (@carynashton) sent in the tattoos that she and her husband Jeff (@otherjeff) got for their 10 year anniversary. Rather than go the cheesy route with hearts and flowers and crap, they went geek. Jeff is a big Star Wars fan, which means that Caryn became one by proxy. She found the picture of Leia and Hans and they both loved the style so they ran down to Underground Art in Memphis, TN to get them inked by Vanessa Waites. Great style to the tattoos and a great geek love symbolism!

Amazing Labyrinth Tattoo

I was just browsing through Fuck Yeah, Tattoos and came across this absolutely breathtakingly detailed leg sleeve of Labyrinth. The owner is one Mr Phil from the UK. Obviously Labyrinth is one of his favorite movies, as many of us geeks would agree. While Phil gets major props for sporting a Labyrinth tattoo, I must also give incredible credit to Richard Beston (Bez) of Triplesix Studios for the skilled execution of this work of art. Wow.

Bubble Bobble Chest Tattoo

Bubble Bobble is one of those addictive and fun games that many of us grew up with. It’s also one of Keesha’s favorite games that she still plays today. So she decided to get Bub and Bob tattooed above her err on her chest. She says it was extremely painful (I can imagine!) but so worth it. Greg at Dark Star Tattoo delivered the pain and this awesome tattoo.

Gears of War, Battle Royale, and a 1-Up

Dane. is a geeky girl who loves playing Gears of War and Japanese movies. She says she got the Battle Royale tattoo above because she likes the movie and it reminds her of when she plays 1 on 1 and deathmatches online with friends. She’s also a big fan of Gears of War and has clocked in way too many hours playing.

She’s also got a cute 1-up mushroom on her arm that’s actually related to the Gears of War tattoo. Back in 2008, Dane was selected by Spike TV to help promote Gears of War 2. When she got back from the trip, she got the 1-up mushroom as a reminder that she actually got paid to play a videogame on national TV. How many of you guys out there can say that, huh?

Greg’s True-To-Life Heart Container Tattoo

Greg Ledet is the owner of the above heart container wrist tattoo. Greg was born with polycystic kidneys. He got the partially filled hearts because he “didn’t start this game with full life”. In addition to that, he just finished going through treatment for Hepatitis C that he contracted during hurricane cleanup after Katrina. He says he was down to only ½ a heart before that treatment, but now he’s back up to 2½ hearts with a healthy liver and ok kidneys. If only ↑, ↑, ↓, ↓, ←, →, ←, →, B, A worked in real life!

Greg is also a network and security consultant. I don’t know about you, but if I hire a network consultant and I see he has a Cisco tattoo I’m going to sleep easier at night knowing I hired the right Cisco engineer.

Ink was done at Heartbreak Customs in Bellefontaine, OH.
