The Best Starship Enterprise Knuckle Tattoo

Star Trek - Enterprise - knuckle tattoo copy

I know, it’s been a long time since our last post. I’m still alive, still getting all sorts of submissions. Some day we’ll get through our backlog of awesome nerdy tattoos. But this one came in the other day and I just had to post it, you know since the new Star Trek movie, “Into Darkness” just came out.

The tattoo belongs to Jason Criss who writes:

It took me a while to figure out what kind of Star Trek tattoo I wanted to get. I finally decided that the enterprise d on my knuckles was the best choice for me. It’s still a work in progress there will be more shading and colors after the initial outline heals. let me know what you think of them so far.

That’s right, boldly going where no knuckle tattoo has gone before.

Hitchhiking with Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland/Hitchhikers Guide tattoos

Rachel Newbury sent in her collection of 4 tattoos. She writes:

I got these four tattoos a few weeks apart as a graduation present to myself for finishing my Graduate studies in Library Science. I have always been a HUGE fan of Douglas Adams and the “Don’t Panic” mantra fits my personality, I love that a number is the Answer to Life, the Universe and Everything plus I get a kick out of peoples reactions to it.

I grew up reading “Alice in Wonderland” and have wanted a Cheshire tattoo for a while and was so thrilled when Tim Burton’s adaption contained what for me was the best version of the cat. “We’re All Mad Here” is a favorite Cheshire quote and I always say that the best people are a little crazy

All tattoos inked by Grant at The Tattooed Heart in Lafayette, Indiana.

Robot Candy Skull

Robot Candy Skull

Nathan writes:

My name’s Nathan and I got this ‘Robot Candy Skull’ from John Anderton at Nemesis Tattoo Studio – http://nemesistattoos.co.uk – I was mid way through a sci-fi sleeve (on my other arm, which is nearly finished) when I asked him if he thought he could draw a robot version of a candy/sugar skull – he did, I loved it so decided to get it tattooed there and then (forsaking my sleeve for a month!). We’re now going to add to the design with a Day of the Dead lady cyborg on the other side of my arm… and maybe continue with a full sci-fi, day-of-the-dead sleeve…

The Geek Virus

Eric Johnson - Tattoo submission - The Geek Virus

Name: Eric
Nick: Justeric78
Shop: Houston Body Art
Artist: Fien-X

I have been thinking for a few years of a way to expose my inner geek.
I am an IT Manager but do not look like a stereo typical nerd and felt I needed something to expose my geek to the world. Fien-X and I designed this to be a visual depiction of the geek virus that runs through us all. I am infected and proud!

This is obviously just the outline and it will be filled in a bit and when this gets done over the next few months I will resubmit the pictures.

Peat’s Dinosaur Tattoos

Peat, a member of the awesomely named band You Bred Raptors? writes:

This set of tattoos was my first (of many). 3 sittings. 3 hours for the Parasauralophus and 4 hours for the Plesiosaur. There was a plethora of reasons for getting this done and waiting till the ripe age of 28 to do so.

Long story short, it was a declaration to myself that I had achieved the goal of supporting myself through playing and performing original music in NYC. I’m in a dinosaur themed band (www.YouBredRaptors.com) so this is extra geeky. This city is brutal and thankless. But I wouldn’t want it any differently. Tattoos and piercings were always forbidden in my strict Christian upbringing. So this was a major cut to the umbilical cord. My father, who has never seemed proud of my music accomplishments was the only reason I waited as long as I did. He always loved me but never really believed in me as a musician or a man. I’ll be shunned for awhile because of this but that’s not something I can control. I have a bit of optimism that he will surprise me and be cool with my life choices, even if they aren’t what he had in mind for me. We’ll see…

Oh I also got them because dinosaurs kick ass. Wanna fight about it?

Designed and Tattooed by the AMAZING Alice White at No Ka Oi Tiki Tattoo in Philadelphia, PA. She’s well worth the commute.

Larry the Gender Challenged Cow

Lowe writes:

Got this one done at Swahili Bobs in Stockholm, Sweden (http://www.swahilibobs.com ) artist was Roger. The backstory is quite simple, I am a huge open source/free software fan and Gentoo was my first GNU/Linux distribution.

Ed Note: The title of this post was the subject of Lowe’s email. GeekyTattoos.com make no claims about the gender identity of said cow, and does not believe previously mentioned cow should be forced to pick a single gender, much like many linux users can’t stick with just one distribution. I mean I’ve been through at least half a dozen myself. Linux distributions that is.

Tron ISO Tattoo

Jerimiah got the ISO’s mark on their arm. Sadly Jerimiah may have to wait a few years before they come up with glowing implants, but this’ll do for now I think.

Triple Tattoo for Triforce Tuesday!

Melanie sent in her tribute (Hyrule crest, Link’s shield, and Zelda’s dress) to the Legend of Zelda.

Triforce Tuesday is the result of everybody sending in triforce related tattoos. They’re popular and I want to showcase some of the better ones. If you’ve got a triforce related tattoo, send it in and see if you make the cut for Triforce Tuesday.

Schrodingers’ Cat

Fergus writes:

Here is my Schrodingers’ cat tattoo that I got last December. It shows an alive cat, the skeleton of a cat and the Radiation warning symbol all contained in an Escher box. I am a medical physicisist and work with Ionising radiation most days.
I got the tattoo as I love Physics and especially the Philosophy of Physics, and think this shows the concept of uncertainty extremely well.

The artist, Richie Clarke @ Forever True in Liverpool, UK did a great job!

Maeghan’s Synthesizer Tattoo

Maeghan writes:

Love your site!!! I am a musician, specifically a pianist & keyboardist, I write and record my own music. (I also have ADHD so my album is not completed, but it should be done before I pass on.)
I recently went to Las Vegas to get married and my husband and I decided to get tattooed together. This would be the first tattoo for me; for him it was would be his 14th.
I decided to go for synthesizer knobs because “I LOVE KNOBS”, anything to change a sound. I decided to go with 4 knobs that are almost always grouped together. In fact, they are usually just referred to by their acronym, ADSR. ADSR stands for “attack”, “delay”, “sustain”, and “release” … they are the knobs that control either the amplifier’s envelope or the filter’s envelope. Envelope is the technical term that sums up “how sound is shaped in time”.
I already have plans to put more knobs on my other arm. My husband decided to go with a space invader, nothing more needs to be said.
