A Colorful Triforce Tuesday

Ichabod” was told by one of his friends about our Triforce Tuesday so he had to submit his triforce tattoo. It’s always great to see a new and different take on the triforce. Ichabod got the tattoo from his friend Danielle (who works at Danville Ink now). He writes:

I got this tattoo because I love The Legend Of Zelda series (duh), but I also got it because I relate to in game “Religion” so to speak. I like the idea of the three gods working together to make the world, also a lot of the Philosophies are very similar to Martial arts, that being because the game is from japan I’m sure. And in case you didn’t get the hint, I love martial arts, I practice EVERY day and I see my tattoo every time I do martial arts so its a good reminder of why I do it in the first place. This Probably isn’t important for the article, but I practice Ninjutsu, Tae Kwon Do, And Hung Gar Kung Fu if you were curious. Another Fun fact is that I have a TON of Zelda trinkets including a 1 of 2000 Zelda statue of Fierce Deity Link, A Limited Edition Golden Zelda DS and various Cardboard cut outs from game advertisements including Twilight princess, Phantom hourglass and Soul Calibur 2 for gamecube (link was in that). And just in case anyone was gonna give me shit for it being on my right hand, yes i know Link has it on his left, but Zelda and Ganondorf have it on there right, so just pretend I’m Ganondorf.

Triforce Tuesday is the result of everybody sending in triforce related tattoos. They’re popular and I want to showcase some of the better ones. If you’ve got a triforce related tattoo, send it in and see if you make the cut for Triforce Tuesday.

Mega Man Trio

Name : Brad
Where you got the tattoo done : Nellie from Bent Needle Tattoo

Why you got the tattoo:
I have been a gamer since the Atari came out. When Nintendo release Megaman, I knew i have found my NEW number one favorite game. Over the years, it introduced some more great characters. Move forward a few years and for my 30th birthday, my wife got me a Rockman Art Book from Japan that had some amazing art in it. After looking through the book for several weeks, I finally decided on a tattoo that would should my adoration for the Megaman series.

Mike’s Klingon Tattoo

Figuring out your first tattoo can be quite a difficult task for some. For Mike it was pretty easy since he’s wanted the Klingon tattoo you see above since he was in high school (he’s 32 now). The only problem he had was deciding on a location. Eventually he went to Lacey’s Finest in Olympia, Washington and George inked the Klingon Empire logo you see above.

Sheva Alomar Tattoo

Today’s tattoo comes all the way from Argentina. Yiyo‘s the proud owner of the Resident Evil 5 tattoo above. She writes:

I had it done in a tattoo parlor in Once in Buenos Aires (Can’t actually mention the name, sorry. XD) in June, 2009. Is the same tattoo that Sheva Alomar has in the game. Is a tribal skull that reads “shujaa”- which means hero/warrior/fighter in Swahili- . The main reason of me getting totally in love with it was, not only for being a design found in the Resident Evil universe, which I love… but also because it’s a war mark. It’s supposed to give you strength in battle. And everyone that knows me, knows that I tend to throw myself down too much when things are not looking nice.. So I felt that a design that can remind me that I have to be a warrior in life would be a great thing to wear with pride ( bonus points for being a “video game tattoo” ;D ).

And for extra geeky roleplaying points, Yiyo also has a tattoo of the Toreador Rose from Vampire the Masquerade.

Pixel Heart

Pixel tattoos are one of my favorites. Probably because I remember back in the day when stuff was 8bit and wasn’t retro! We loved all 8 of those bits! But this tattoo totally reminds me of the days I spent in MacPaint with the pencil tool making pictures literally pixel by pixel. The tattoo is Danielle’s and she sent it in with no explanation. I hope she got the extended warranty because it looks like a couple of those pixels are dead!

Michelangelo Cover-Up

Sometimes you make a mistake in getting a tattoo when you’re younger. Matt made one and got a very un-geeky tattoo of “some stupid tribal” crap. Luckily he realized the error of his ink and redeemed his geek cred with a cover-up that showcased his favorite Turtle as a kid, Michelangelo.

Hardcore Networking Geek

If there’s one thing that makes all this online stuff happen, it’s networking. “Darkness” (yes he’s an albino) is one of those people that makes the networking happen. He’s a long time systems administrator / network security consultant that wanted to show his love of it in ink form ever since he was 14. His OS connecting network geekiness was inked by VooDoo (Geoff Chard) from Flesh for Fantasy Tattoo in Rochester, NY. His two arm tattoos below were done by Nichole Coughlin at the same shop.

Triforce Tuesday… with a side of Mario

It’s Triforce Tuesday again! Today it’s Donny (@DHouse1985) with his simple black Triforce. He says Zelda was his brother’s favorite video game and underneath the triforce is his brother’s son’s name because Donny is his godfather. Going long with the brother theme, Donny and his brother also got inked with related tattoos. Donny got Mario and his brother got Luigi (not shown). All the tattoos were done by Joe Vargas at Zoe’s Vicious Circle.

And finally, as a reminder of his neverending childhood, Donny got a 1-up tattoo:

Penrose Triangle Tattoo

BSKTTA is a geek from Paris. He sent in his simple, yet elegantly geeky tattoo of a Penrose triangle. It’s truly an international tattoo because he got it done in Copenhagen (at Bright Side Tattoo) by a visiting American artist, Scrawny Yanni. He says he’s a big game enthusiast and really digs open world games. To him the triangle, illustrating impossibility in one of the simplest form, symbolizes the creation of impossible realities in virtual worlds.

She’s Got a Yoshi On Her Back

For years Nikki has been trying to kick her habit, that is to say her love of Mario. Ok, that’s actually not true, who would want to kick a habit of playing Mario Brothers? Not her. So much in fact that she went to Wild Side Tattoos and Piercings and got Jerry to permanently tattoo a baby Yoshi on her back.
